Johnny English is back. Who the heck is Johnny English, you may ask? Well, put Mr. Bean on the set of the original 'Casino Royale,' give him a license to be inept, and you have an accidental secret agent who bungles himself through the 2003 film titled, appropriately enough, 'Johnny English.' Rowan Atkinson, evidently trying to expand his wacky goofball Mr. Bean character into new territory (and cash in on the success of the Austin Powers franchise -- 'Austin Powers in Goldmember' came out in 2002) tried to make his mark as a British Maxwell Smart. Didn't work. The plot: All the top British secret agents have been killed in an explosion and it's up to English to figure out who has stolen the crown jewels from the Tower of London. The consensus: Awful.
Buy awful doesn't count in the movie biz, and someone thought it might be a good idea to resurrect English for the 21st century -- so we now have 'Johnny English Reborn.' This time around, Atkinson is joined by a cast of top-notch actors, including Rosamund Pike, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic West and Gillian Anderson. The film opens in the UK Oct. 7; there's no word on a U.S. debut.
Below is the plot line for the film -- and check out the trailer after the jump. Then let us know what you think about this sequel.
